Scream for ice cream

~ Thursday, August 18, 2016

1. Jack Horner's Corner in Seebert - soft-swirl vanilla, chocolate and mixed! High fat content so the ice cream is rich and creamy. Sure to make you smile after a day on the Greenbrier River or Greenbrier River Trail.

2. The Dirtbean in Marlinton - Ice cream here comes from the Homestead Creamery and is delicious. Interesting flavors like coffee, and blood orange sorbet. Antibiotic and hormone free. Enjoy either before or after a trip to the Pocahontas Opera House.

3. Starlight Cafe at the Green Bank Observatory -lots of amusing flavors as well as traditional. You'll say "Oh yes please!" Enjoy after your tour at the Observatory or a bike ride through the property.

4. Dairy Queen in Marlinton when you just have to have a cool treat. Ice cream cones, shakes, blizzards, sundaes, and royal treats. You can count on the flavor!

5. Cass Country Store in Cass  - A 1950s style soda shop that serves everything from ice cream cones to banana splits, sodas and sundaes. Enjoy either before or after your train ride at Cass Scenic Railroad State Park.

5. Rayetta's Lunch-box in Marlinton - a nice selection to choose from - you're bound to find a new favorite. Servings are huge so hold up on having lunch until after you've had your dessert.

6. Sharp's Country Store at Slatyfork - this old time store will make you smile as you step back to yesterday. Enjoy an ice cream cone as you meander through the shop or sit outside and enjoy the cool breeze. Antiques and collectables as well as quaint older items.

7. Rail Trail Store in Durbin - top off your visit to ride the Durbin Rocket with a stop at this cute little shop. Great selection, ample servings, and you can shop for a souvenir while you munch.

8. Durbin Ice Cream Depot - another cute shop in Durbin on the east end. A good selection of dipped ice cream. Stop by and sit a spell.
