Dawn’s engaging blend of information regarding the morphology, folklore, and modern science of Pocahontas County’s most ubiquitous and healthful herbs is sure to delight. Participants will leave her talks with eyes opened, minds awakened and taste buds tickled by the natural bounty that surrounds us. Talks begin on the hour and last approximately 45 minutes. The GNCC series is produced exclusively by Racer Productions, a Morgantown, West Virginia-based racing production company with over 30 years of experience in the industry.

Allegheny Echoes is the concept of a group of West Virginia musicians and writers who wish to promote, support, preserve, and teach their own art without distracting influences. Their goal is to provide an accurate representation of West Virginia art that is not packaged and altered to appeal to a specific market. There is a strong emphasis placed on West Virginia tradition with an overall look toward the embracing Appalachian culture. The Summer Workshops offer a chance for students of all ages and abilities to come together to learn, appreciate, and enjoy our West Virginia ways.

We love to quilt and we get together every summer to learn and share with one another. Our program consists of three one day workshops and two mini-classes with experienced teachers for your learning enjoyment and quilting experience. You may register for one or more classes.

July 29 - Friday - Quilter's Tote taught by Cheryl Taylor-Dean, Friday evening is Funky Chicken Pincushion taught by Cheryl Taylor-Dean. The art-celebrating, good-eating, field dancing homecoming music festival is coming to High Rocks. A combination High Rocks reunion and music festival, join us for a family friendly festival that features local West Virginia crafts and foods, the curiosity-generating Nettle/local food cook-off, High Rocks girl artwork displays and sales, a silent auction, pony rides, games, face painting and more!

This festival has become a legend in the mountains of Pocahontas County. Original country crafts, great sounding music by regional bands, and the best food you can find anywhere. Last year Smokey the Bear stopped in - you won't know who dropped in this year unless you come see for yourself. The festival features soccer games, harvest games for all,horseshoe pitching, scavenger hunt, agricultural and homemaking exhibits,and much more. Andrew Zimmern from Bizarre Foods was a judge here last fall so who knows who we'll have this year! This outstanding event was rated by Parade Magazine as thee festival in WV and we couldn't agree more! You've heard about this festival, you've seen it on the Food Channel and the Travel Channel - now come enjoy a whole new experience and have a lot of fun, too at the 21st Annual RoadKill Cook-off. Anything goes as long as the main ingredient is an animal commonly found along the road. You can taste some very unique dishes. The cooking begins at 11 a.m.; the judging begins at 2 p.m.; and the tasting beings when you're ready to sample a taste! Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three teams chosen by our panel of celebrity judges.

Huntersville Traditions Day is a way to step back in time and enjoy the Appalachian Culture by taking part in demonstrations of some of the lst arts that have disappeared through the decades.
Visitors have the opportunity to tour the Huntersville School, Presbyterian and Methodist Church, Jail, Civil War Cemetery and enjoy the history throughout the Huntersville Community. Al Stone, who impersonates Robert E. Lee, will have a program at the Presbyterian Church on Friday evening, October 5th and he will be around on Saturday October 6th to visit the community and commemorate the Anniversary of the Civil War. You can also take a walking tour or catch a horse and buggy to enjoy making apple butter, make ice cream, spin wool, cane chairs, grind coffee, watch soap being made, listen to Beatrix Potter's story, start a hit and miss engine, take a pony ride, help make sorghum, keep in tune with the cloggers, practice muzzle leading, let the children play old time games, visit the old time post office, enjoy a cup of cider, tap your foot to mountain mussic and watch corn meal being ground.
You can stop at the jail and pick up a Pocahontas County history book, check out the old tool wagon and enjoy a wonderful meal at the Methodist Church. Make a visit to the lunch room at the school and step back in time with Laura Ingalls and enjoy the quilt display.
What a wonderful weekend in Huntersville WV of stepping back in time when life was simple and our traditions began.
